Continenten.com is a static website. No tracking cookies are set and no personal data is collected. Here you can read exactly what does and does not happen when you visit this site.
No cookies, no registration
This site sets no cookies on your device, of any kind — not for statistics, not for advertising, not for preferences. There is no login form and no account. You simply read the content, exactly as described on the About Continenten.com page.
There is also no analytics software running that tracks your browsing behaviour across multiple sites. No Google Analytics, no third-party trackers building a profile of you.
The one external request: map tiles
The continent pages and the comparison page display interactive maps using the Leaflet library. Those maps load their tiles from the servers of OpenStreetMap. This is a third-party request: at the moment a map loads, your IP address is visible to OpenStreetMap's servers. OpenStreetMap is a non-profit organisation; their privacy policy can be read on their website.
Beyond these map tiles, no requests are sent to external servers. There is no embedded video, no external font file and no advertising network watching in the background.
If you would rather not load the map, you can disable JavaScript in your browser. All text, tables and figures on the page are fully readable without JavaScript — the map is supplementary, not essential.
Server logs
As with any website, the web server automatically records requests in a log file. That file contains by default the visitor's IP address, the requested file, the timestamp and the browser used. These log entries are used solely for technical maintenance and security, and are not combined with other data to identify or profile you.
