For teachers
This resource guides pupils aged 10β14 through an independent project about a continent of their choice. The page has four sections that you can use individually or as a whole:

Choose a continent and an angle
Decide which continent you are researching and what aspect you want to highlight: nature, culture, history or another theme. Note your choice above. -
Gather sources
Use this website (e.g. Asia, Africa), an atlas and textbooks. Write down the names of your sources. -
Create a contents page
Plan at least four chapters. Examples: Location, People, Nature, Notable places. -
Write your report
Write each chapter in your own words. Do not copy text β summarise and explain using your own sentences. -
Add a map and images
Draw or print a blank map and colour in your continent. Add one or two other images. -
Check and submit
Read your report through once more. Are the facts correct? Are the sources listed? Submit before the deadline.

Assessment rubric
Teachers use this rubric to assess the report or presentation. Three levels: unsatisfactory, satisfactory and good.
